devour, great mother

The duality of the destructor and the creator, the Mother Goddess, the wild female, dynamic and creative, benevolent and vengeful. Life cannot exist without death.

I wanted to depict a female demon-goddess who isn't pornulated, who doesn't gain her power from being sexxxay, but from having supreme power, an unrelenting will and an absolute viciousness in all she does. Not the all-loving, peaceful mother-goddess!

Based on several different goddess-myths and stories - Kali, Durga, Rangda, Medusa, Lilitu, etc.

Had the worst time painting the skin. I think I need to do some practice pieces for skin tones in watercolor because boy did that experience suck. Especially after I was so pleased with how the background and hair came out.
